2 Tickets To Italy For $1,000 And Dumpster Diving. The Best of The Rest For Monday, August 17th 2015
The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. On a daily basis, I try to keep track of roughly 100 different blogs (try being the operative word) that have interesting things for you and I to learn from. Some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
Here’s what I’m reading about today:
Cheap Flight Of The Day: $499 tickets from New York to Milan (or $1,900 in business class) on Emirates. The catch? You have to buy 2 tickets. Great prices to get to Europe. Thanks, The Flight Deal!
An interesting article about American Airlines trying to establish service to Lansing, Michigan out of Washington National. Gary asks the question as to whether American would establish this service even if they don’t get a slot exception. I’ll definitely be watching to see how this resolves. I think the FAA was short-sighted in how it went about extracting a pound of flesh at DCA as part of the American/US Airways merger. Do they stand on principle and not let AA launch service in the wake of Sun Country bowing out.
United is selling miles at their cheapest price in as long as I can recall (50% off). Still not a phenomenal deal, but if you have a trip planned and know you can get better than 2 cents per mile, have at it!
9,000 United miles for a 1-night hotel stay. That’s pretty awesome!
Another excellent reason to fly Ryanair.
Doctor of Credit posted about $100 Sears gift cards for $85.
Targeted. $10 off an Amazon purchase.
Okay, there’s already two valuable Mommy Points posts above, but I couldn’t not include this one about them dumpster diving.
