3X Miles On Online Purchases Using Citi AAdvantage Credit Card
Citibank and American Airlines are offering bonus miles through the end of June on all online purchases (except for AA and US airline tickets).
The offer runs through June 30, 2015 and may be the start of a trend of rolling category bonuses for the Citi AAdvantage credit cards, given this offer earlier this year.
It’s capped at 2500 miles, which means you can max this out with $1250 in online spending over the next few months. And, you can double dip with the AAdvantage shopping portal (or any other one for that matter) to really maximize your earnings.
The offer is targeted, but I received it for at least 2 cards in my household so far.

This offer starts upon enrollment and will end on 06/30/2015. AAdvantage® miles are only earned on eligible purchases. Earnings associated with this program will equal 2 AAdvantage® bonus mile(s) per $1 spent on eligible purchases and may overlap with other special offers in which you are currently enrolled. AAdvantage® miles earned with this offer are subject to a maximum of 2,500 AAdvantage® bonus miles. This offer excludes the double miles benefit on eligible American Airlines and US Airways purchases, balance transfers, cash advances, convenience checks, items returned for credit, fees and interest charges. My targeted offer was for in person purchases with 3x at gas, restaurants and grocery. Oh and 2500 divided by 3 is like $833 max. Time for a field trip out of the sock drawer 🙂
Dan, not a bad offer. And, while your math is correct, my reading of the T&C is in contrast with your logic. The T&C says, “Earnings associated with this program will equal 2 AAdvantage® bonus mile(s) per $1 spent on eligible purchases”. Further, the offer says you can earn 2,500 miles. That’s where my math for $1250 came up.
These are typically offered as your AF becomes due to encourage you to keep the card. It seems that it’s possible to get the bonus prior to closing it out, but keep your eyes on the posting of the bonuses and the timing available to close and still get the AF refund.
15A, this is the second one I’ve gotten in a row, and neither is near my annual fee. Could be the start of a new trend.
