What To Say About Downed Malaysia Airlines Flight 17
You’ve likely heard about Malaysia Airlines flight 17 crashing in Ukraine on the way to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam.
I’ve been reading social media and occasionally commenting over the last few hours, but it’s hard for me to summarize the implications.
The only thing I’m entirely sure of is how sad a time this must be for the family and friends of the passengers and crew onboard.
What I can’t say is whether this ultimately leads to a dramatic escalation in hostilities the likes of which have not seen since before I was born or if somehow the lives lost today weren’t because of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Almost 300 people perishing in a plane crash is a horrible enough story all on its own. Let’s all hope that the story ends there.
Putin informed Obama about ATC reporting the MH flight going down while Obama was on a scheduled call to Putin some hours ago. It almost sounds like Obama may have found out about this MH incident from Putin before anyone else had informed Obama of this downed MH flight.
