Rumors That Hyatt Has Acquired The Driskill Hotel in Austin
Lots of expansion in the Austin market for Hyatt, it seems. Earlier this week they opened the Hyatt Place Austin. I’m generally more of a full service hotel guy, and I’ve enjoyed my stays at Hyatt Regency Austin. But, the pictures of Hyatt Place Austin look nice and it seems every time I head to Austin the Hyatt is pretty full. So, I’m happy to have this alternative.
And, it looks like the Driskill Hotel in Austin will be joining the Hyatt family. While I’ve never stayed at the Driskill, it seems like a hotel that fits my travel preferences. It’s a property with some history but with some modern rooms as well. It rates 4 out of 5 on Trip Advisor and the pictures of the public space look really nice. I’m a bit of a hotel wonk, so I enjoy historical properties as long as the rooms aren’t too ancient.
It’s not definite, but the job listings on the Hyatt website (as referenced by the article above) are pretty convincing. 🙂
Watch out… the hotel is supposed to be haunted 🙂
Harold, I forgot to add that to the post. 🙂
They have ghost tours, iirc. Maybe you redeem more GP points to get a haunted room.
No way – that would be awesome. The hotel has great history!
Native Austinite here, and having stayed at the Driskell, it’s 5-star. Incredible.
Good to hear. It’s definitely on my list!
