Got An Extra $400K? Get A Lexus LFA!
I got a little surprise when I was staying at the Hyatt Regency Denver last week. This is one of my go-to hotels for business travel, and I always seem to get some pretty cool upgraded rooms. This time, the hotel was sold out, which generally means a nice room (more on that in a future post). Lexus was the one monopolizing the hotel, and when I got back to my hotel after a day of meetings the second night, I was greeted by a sports car I’d never seen before. See, Lexus had their new LFA, something that was just a concept car the last time I heard about it, parked out in front of the hotel for people to gawk at.
The car has an entry level price of $375,000. Yes, you read that right. It’s a V10 with over 550 horsepower that tops out over 200 mph and goes 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. Pretty damn fast. I really liked the look of the car. It was definitely apparent it had muscle, but was designed much more sleek and aerodynamic than the muscle cars from Detroit. And, the tri-tip exhaust looked pretty friggin cool.
I don’t really consider myself a car junkie. But, this was a pretty cool looking car. And, the price tag is pretty ridiculous to me, which only made me more curious. Oddly, my 100+ nights at this hotel every year still didn’t yield me a test drive.
