Remember That Time I Disappeared From The Blog For A Week?

a white character sitting on the floor with a blue question mark

Hey, guys.  I wanted to apologize briefly for the utter silence over the past week.  To say it’s been rough would be an understatement.  Last week I was on the road all week at the Consumer Electronics Show for work.  It’s always a busy week, one I’m happy to return home from.  Unfortunately, when I returned home this past weekend to catch up on life I ended up sick.  And, not just a little bit sick.

There were some not-so-fun medicines (in fact, I’m still staring at the bottles on the corner of my desk).  My voice disappeared along with my appetite and for a couple of days I couldn’t look at my phone screen without it causing the sharp pain in my head to get worse.  Suffice it to say that working was pretty much out of the question, along with things like blogging and podcasting.  It’s been a very long time since I just couldn’t function.  Suffice it to say it’s been an odd few days for me.

I’m far from back to normal (heck, you guys know I’m not normal).  But, I’m slowly creeping back to it and getting caught up on the world.  Thanks for being patient.  I can’t wait to get back into the groove!

  1. Glad to hear you’re starting to feel better. You should probably take a trip to Disney when you’re fully recovered!

  2. This is quite an interesting post considering you’ve already posted 9 times in 2019 on TPG, including two posts during CES (January 8-9). Why don’t you just fold your blog into TPG like MommyPoints did? What is your vision for this blog given that you’ve clearly abandoned it for TPG?

    1. Daniel, fair questions. Actually, many of the posts you see on TPG of mine were written in December. I literally did almost no writing last week due to work and then none over the weekend because of illness.
My vision for 2019 involves continuing to focus on my blog and podcasts. I’m REALLY enjoying the podcasts. I’ve been working through some transitions on podcast production that have eaten up time as well.

As to TPG, MommyPoints is a dear friend and when I get the opportunity to write or record with her, I’ll rarely turn it down. We love coordinating.
I’m not abandoning PIM. It’s my baby. I just need to get better at time management, and take a bit better care of my health.

      1. Okay, thanks for the update, and I definitely hope you get better soon. Do keep in mind that podcasts don’t always work for people who are too busy to listen but who can quickly read an article. I’ve always preferred text over video, and I still associate podcasts with video in the sense that my speed of getting through it is dictated by the speakers rather than by my reading ability.

        1. Daniel, I absolutely did NOT realize in the beginning that part of my audience would have no use for podcasts. I’m trying to come up with a better workflow for the episodes where a post on PIM would link to a great written resource on a topic if I’m not going to write it as well. We do that now but not with regularity. I need to get better at that.
Your comments about text versus other media are spot on and I’m working on creating that balance.

        2. Oh, and thx for your comments. I’ve got thick skin and I’d rather people tell me they don’t like something than just wander away. I’ve loved the first 10 years of PIM. Looking forward to the next 10!

  3. Yeah, I also rarely listen to podcasts. I can’t quickly skim a podcast! That said, I think it’s great you’re doing them if that’s what you want to do. Perhaps others prefer podcasts.

    Anyhow, feel better!
