JetBlue Makes Family Pooling Even Better!

If you’re a fan of JetBlue (I am) there are a couple of cool treats they rolled out this week.  JetBlue was early into the game of family pooling.   What’s family pooling?  That’s a feature that eliminates those annoying small balances for your kids (or spouse, mother, father, etc) when they only take one or two flights a year.  JetBlue allows you to combine, or pool, the miles for the members of your family.

Family Pooling Is Now Points Pooling

Airlines haven’t been in the habit of making things better for us as customers.  But, JetBlue is bucking that trend by expanding the folks you can combine your points with:

• In Points Pooling, your pool can be made up of 2 to 7 members of all ages, family or not!
• Instead of contributing a set percentage, members will contribute 100% of their points to the pool. But don’t worry, members can redeem or leave the pool with their unused points whenever they choose.
• The Pool Leader, formerly called the Head of Household, (must be 21 years of age or older) will be able to give other members in the pool privileges to redeem points from the entire pooled balance.

This definitely increases the possibility that you’ll redeem your points, so there’s a cost to JetBlue for this.  But, it’s also a great way to build loyalty, making sure customers can get value from even small balances of TrueBlue points.

Award Flights Are Cheaper (For A Brief Time)

Angelina Travels posted yesterday about a brief flash sale for award flights.  Now through Wednesday, August 29th at 11:59 pm you can save 20% on award flight bookings.  The dates for these flights are from 9/17 to 11/6/2018.  And, there are restrictions, like not being able to book Friday or Sunday travel.  20% is still 20%.  If you have a flight in mind, you might want to think quickly about booking it today or tomorrow before this sale goes away.

The Final Two Pennies

JetBlue also reached out to me to let me know that their popular TrueBlue badges program would be taking a brief hiatus while they make it even cooler.  I know there are some pretty passionate fans of their badges.  Given how much thought JetBlue puts into their brand, I wouldn’t be surprised if hardcore fans are even happier when badges come back with improvements.  Stay tuned…..
