GREAT Cheap Flights to Hawaii!

Not sure what’s going on with Hawaii lately.  $500 fares are usually reason to celebrate (and book quickly).  This is the second time this year I can recall seeing fares substantially lower than that.

The Flight Deal is reporting fares that are under $400 round-trip.  Interestingly, these fares are to a number of different airports:

  • Kona(KOA) $363
  • Maui(OGG) $363
  • Kauai(LIH) $373
  • Honolulu(HNL) $373

The fares appear to be valid only from New York City (specifically Newark).  Even if you don’t live in New York, it’s pretty easy to find a cheap flight there for positioning on something like this.  There are plenty of hubs for the various airlines up and down the East Coast.

The Final Two Pennies

As I mentioned earlier, it’s a bit surprising to see fares this low to Hawaii.  This is before Southwest starts flying to Hawaii, which is bound to put some more pressure on fares.

Since these flights are wholly in the US, you’ll have 24 hours after you book to cancel these flights and receive a full refund.  That means if you’re on the fence you should probably book something and then cancel within 24 hours if you decide not to take the trip.  With prices this low, I don’t expect them to last long!
