Earn 500 Bonus Points For Each New Booking With The New Hyatt App
Smartphones are how most of us conduct business, digest news, talk to friends and purchase that item from Amazon you just can’t wait for. Travel is one of the last areas that has road warriors avoiding their iPhone to conduct business. Travel companies are trying to change that by creating more value in their apps. Hyatt is the latest to make that play.
Hyatt Releases New App
Hyatt has released a new app that comes with increased functionality:
- Access and stream personal content directly to the in-room TV through Chromecast without the need to enter additional credentials*
- Unlock guestrooms and public spaces via Hyatt Mobile Entry*
- Quickly make requests directly to the hotel and receive feedback in real-time via a new chat
option*
- Request items directly to guestrooms
- Access the schedule of meetings and events happening at the hotel during the member’s stay
When it comes to streaming, I’ll cop to being something of a dinosaur. However, when a hotel makes it easy for me to stream my music (and has a good speaker system) I really, really enjoy it. Some Hyatt hotels allow that now with third-party systems. I’ll be curious if the Chromecast feature of the new app will allow music streaming as well as TV content. I’m sure my kids will enjoy being able to stream their favorite movies to the hotel TV when we travel.
I didn’t realize how much I loved digital room keys until I tried one during a Hilton stay a couple of years ago. I’m slightly torn because I still love physical key cards (nerd alert, I have a box of them from my travels at home). Hilton has also done an excellent job instituting text programs with hotel employees to satisfy guest requests quickly and efficiently. I certainly hope Hyatt is able to help replicate this.
Bonus Points For New Bookings
Hyatt is offering 500 bonus points for each new booking you make with the new Hyatt app. This counts for stays at Hyatt hotels as well as eligible MGM and Small Luxury Hotels locations. The only catch is that the stay has to be completed by September 30, 2019. That means only road warriors are really going to be able to maximize this bonus. If you do have an existing stay booked between now and the end of September where the price hasn’t changed (or award inventory is still available) you can cancel and rebook via the new version of the app to earn 500 bonus points.
