Want To Learn How Some Folks Are Earning A Lot of Miles?
I’m sure at least one person will roast me for a clickbait title. But, I couldn’t think of another way to frame this for beginners. I earn a bunch of miles and points flying for business. And, I earn a decent amount more from credit card spending as part of my day job. My wife adds on another amount shopping for our kids. Some folks don’t have those methods to count on.
I have some friends who earn tons of miles without ever stepping foot on a plane. They even manage to turn a profit. I’ve been mildly interested in this world called reselling for a while. I don’t intend to dive into the pool too deeply myself. But, I like to have general knowledge about most things in the miles and points world. That way, I can answer any questions you have.
My friend Trevor from Tagging Miles is the most knowledgable guy I know when it comes to the world of reselling. He’s hosting a conference and he asked me to come speak.
What the Heck is Reselling?
That’s a good question. The short answer? It’s when you find a really good deal on something, buy it for that cheap price, then turn around and sell it for more. How much money you make is dependent on any number of things. Did a bunch of people jump on the same deal? How much does it cost you to resell it somewhere like Amazon or eBay?
I think of reselling as something folks do to generate miles. If you buy the items on a credit card that earns points or miles, then your “profit” could be the free travel. But, the most talented folks in this space are taking it much further.
One example involved a 20% discount on Toys R’ Us gift cards this past holiday shopping season. As a rank amateur, I managed to turn that into about 10,000 extra miles with a healthy dose of elbow grease.
I’ll be talking about some things I’ve learned about eBay and how to get your significant other engaged in earning more miles and points. But, I’m small potatoes compared to some of the experts coming to talk at the ResellingDO.

I just get mine through organic spend. Currently enjoyed a cool 3500 Miles for paying my grad school tuition. It also put me over the second 25k for delta to get my 10k MQM 🙂
