Marriott Has One Of The Most Legendary Ways To Redeem Your Points!
I’ll be honest, the title of this post might seem a bit click-baity. By all means, stop reading if you think I mislead you. But, even if you’re not a sports fan, I’m going to try to draw the right correlation here.
What would it be worth to you to talk to the foremost expert on something you’re truly passionate about? If you’re not a football fan, here are some examples I can think of:
- Swimming lessons from Michael Phelps.
- Piano lessons from Billy Joel.
- Guitar lessons from Santana.
- Writing lessons from JK Rowling.
- Cooking lessons from Mario Batali.
Get the drift?
I’m a huge sports fan. If you’re not, just understand Adam Schefter is one of the foremost experts on all things NFL. Getting advice from him on a weekly basis would be a huge benefit for any fantasy football fan. Heck, I don’t even play fantasy football and I’d be thrilled to talk to Schefty on a weekly basis.
Marriott’s Moments platform is very similar to the SPG Moments platform where you can bid on once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I’ve bid on two awesome ones. My wife got to play tennis with Andre Agassi at the US Open and she and I are heading to a Billy Joel concert. Reasonable minds can disagree on what these experiences are worth. But, I’ve always felt this is a really cool way to spend your points.
Marriott actually has some pretty cool Moments loaded up right now:
- Snorkeling with Jean-Michel Cousteau (I’m guessing it’s that Cousteau).
- Cooking lessons from a Michelin Star chef.
- Astronaut training.
- Sing with Bette Midler.
The Final Two Pennies
I hope you don’t think I wasted too much of your time if you read this far. I’m still plenty nervous about the merger of Marriott and SPG. I’m especially concerned about the “extra mile” that SPG goes in certain areas. SPG Moments is definitely one of those areas. I’m really impressed with what Marriott has done so far on Moments.
You could certainly argue the value of these types of experiences. I have no idea what the “fair price” is for these weekly calls. But, I’m really encouraged to see Marriott making these opportunities available.
We’re still pretty knee-deep in the weeds on what the final program will look like, but this is a positive sign for loyal SPG members.
I’d love to hear if anyone is taking a swing at any of these experiences.
What do you think they’re worth?
