The Chinese Are Bringing A Park Hyatt To Los Angeles???
I’ll admit I was a bit confused when I saw a headline last night that involved Beijing, Park Hyatt and Los Angeles.
And yet, it appears that a Park Hyatt is coming to Los Angeles:
Beijing real estate firm Oceanwide Holdings has reached a deal with Hyatt Hotels to bring a Park Hyatt hotel to Downtown Los Angeles, the companies announced Monday.
The 184-key hotel with 34 suites will be included in the 752,000-square-foot Oceanwide Plaza development.
When the Hyatt Century City closed down earlier this year to renovate (and ultimately turn into condos), it meant that Hyatt had no full-service properties in Los Angeles proper. If you broaden your definition of Los Angeles, they do have the Andaz in West Hollywood (the original Riot Hyatt).
It looks like this property is still a few years away if this announcement is real. It’s not listed on the Hyatt development site as of right now. I’ll do some digging to see if I can get further confirmation.
