Restaurants in Oakbrook, Illinois
As a follow-up to my post about the Hyatt Lodge in Oakbrook, I did actually catch a couple good meals while in Oakbrook, despite my suspicion I woudn’t.
First, there’s a Gibson’s. I’ve dined at the Gibson’s downtown a number of times, usually wandering across the street to Jilly’s for drinks and Jazz afterwards. So, I was happy to hear I could enjoy a good steak while in town. There was also a pretty tasty lobster and crab meat salad in an artichoke, and finally a small piece of carrot cake.
On my second night in town, I enjoyed the Reel Club, which is a Lettuce Entertain You concept. The Lettuce folks run one of my favorite downtown restaurants, Joe’s Seafood, Steak and Stone Crab. The meal didn’t disappoint. There was a lobster ceviche and some really good scallops stuffed in the shell, amongst other enjoyable seafood.
Both are good places to hit if you find yourself in the Oakbrook area. While I’d rather be dining in downtown Chicago, these were two perfectly fine meals, probably two of the better new dining experiences I’ve had this year overall.
There’s that 800 pound gorilla lurking in Oakbrook who would have loved to have you dine with him. 🙂
