Hyatt Announces Triple Points Promo For The Summer
Hyatt announced a promotion where members can earn triple points on stays of two nights or longer. For those planning summer vacations, this is excellent news! Dubbed Bonus Journeys, this promotion will start July 20th and run through September 15th, 2021.
It appears that all properties under the Hyatt umbrella are participating, including all of the participating, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas as well as a number of brands Hyatt acquired a few years ago (Thompson, Destination, etc).
You’ll need to register here, but you can’t do that until July 7th. Set a reminder to do so, since this is a really lucrative promotion.
You can even earn triple points on award stays. Obviously you won’t earn points on the room rate, since that’s free. But, the FAQ indicates that any ancillary expenses charged to your room would earn triple points. And, existing stays qualify for the promotion. As long as you register for the promotion prior to your stay you’ll earn points any stays you’ve already booked.
Hyatt Delays Peak/Off-Peak Pricing
For a second time, Hyatt has announced that they will be delaying the implementation of peak and off-peak pricing changes to their award chart. General consensus is that peak and off-peak pricing will be bad for members. I would imagine that change will lead to higher award prices at some properties. When Marriott rolled out peak/off-peak pricing it has been extremely detrimental at many properties. Hyatt doesn’t have the same reputation that Marriott does for negative changes, so I’m reserving judgment on how peak and off-peak pricing will impact members of the World of Hyatt program.
The Final Two Pennies
A triple points promotion is always cause to celebrate. When you consider that there’s tons of demand for leisure travel right now it’s great to see a rewarding promotion when people actually want to travel. Make sure you register as soon as the promotion opens up so you don’t forget. I doubt we’ll see a more lucrative promotion this summer, especially since this is usually a downtime for great promotions. Triple points may just be enough to convince you to pick Hyatt over Marriott or Hilton this summer.
