Double Points On All Marriott Vacation Rentals
Marriott is offering double points on all vacation home rentals for stays through August 31st at a time when vacation rentals have grown in popularity. The pandemic has really changed the way people travel. While some folks have chosen to rent RVs and explore the great outdoors, vacation home rentals have also been a very popular way for folks to continue itching the travel bug.
While you need to make your plans soon (book by February 22nd) the cancellation policy on most Marriott home rentals is really generous. We took a first-hand look at what a Marriott vacation rental experience last year. Some of the homes are really beautiful, and in great locations. And, with cancellation policies that, in some cases makes it so you can cancel within 10 days of arrival for as little as $75, it can be a great option. Flexible cancellation policies can really come in handy when things you never anticipated force a change in plans. Prior to COVID-19 it would have never occurred to me that a county would make it illegal for more than one family to stay in a vacation rental.
All Homes & Villas by Marriott stays normally earn five points per dollar. However, for reservations through August 31st, booked by February 22nd, all stays will earn 10 points per dollar.
The Final Two Pennies
If you’re not comfortable staying in a hotel, a vacation rental can be a great substitute. While there are rigorous cleaning standards, you also have the ability to control access to the house once you’ve “checked in”. My buddy Summer Hull details what you can expect from a Marriott Homes & Villas.
These homes aren’t owned by Marriott. They’re also managed by a third party. All the experiences I’ve seen have been positive, which is likely due to a higher service touch than the typical vacation rental. There have been reports that you could save a few bucks on these properties booking through other services. However, Marriott brings an excellent cancellation policy to the table as well as the opportunity to earn and redeem points.
It seems like the portfolio of Marriott vacation rentals continues to expand. While the pandemic prevents some of the more aspirational vacations, these homes can be an excellent alternative until there are fewer travel restrictions.
