Disney Ending Their Vacation Savings Accounts
Disney is ending their vacation savings account program. In Disney “surprise and delight” fashion, they’re turning a negative into a positive for those folks sad to see the program going away.
Money’s Lisa Marie Segarra reports that existing account holders have four options for any money left in their account:
- Convert your funds to a Disney gift card. Disney will give you a 5% bonus on whatever you purchase.
- Book a vacation. Disney even has a pretty reasonable offer on their savings account website if you’re looking to book a trip:
Stay and play for just $899
for a family of 3 with this package that includes
a 3-night stay in a standard room at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort or
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort AND 2-day Theme Park tickets!
For stays most nights 7/25–8/5, 8/27–9/9,
9/24–10/5, 10/22–11/4 and 12/10–12/21/17.
Book through 9/27/17.
- Do nothing, and your full balance will be placed on a Disney gift card with a bonus of 2%.
- Request a full refund.
Unless you’ve either decided to hate Disney or you’re otherwise crazy, there’s no way you should choose option 3 or 4. Just sayin…..
The Final Two Pennies
Disney Vacation Savings Accounts had their bumps and bruises, but they also had value for Disney fans. Friend and fellow Disney freak Points and Pixie Dust detailed both in her post last year.
Lisa Marie actually wrote about this a few weeks ago and I forgot to post it. I would imagine Disney is doing a good job notifying those who are affected. But, just in case, I wanted to make sure Disney fans who follow my blog knew what was going on.
