Act Quickly! Plenty Of Qantas Business Class Saver Award Availability February-April Using AAdvantage Miles!
Take your loved one to Sydney for Valentine’s Day!
One of the toughest awards to score in the world of miles and points is saver award availability from the US to Australia. Call it our version of a unicorn. While I was able to grab a single seat on Qantas later this year to try out their first class product I wasn’t able to find multiple seats before that flood of inventory dried up.
Once again, you’ve got an opportunity to score business class seats to Sydney. Right now, I’m seeing plenty of dates where there are 2 seats available from SFO to Sydney in business class on Qantas. It’s on a 747, and a late night 11:25 pm departure gets you into Sydney +1 at 9:00 am.
You won’t find these seats at aa.com. You’ll need to call reservations to find seats.
It’ll cost you 62,500 AAdvantage miles each way. An example of dates where seats are available:
February 14th (the 15th and 16th only have 1 seat)
March 13th-18th all have two seats.
April 10th and 12th both have two seats.
The only dates I tried that yielded nothing were the first week in April where the agent was getting a weird message.
I found plenty of economy seats on these days as well at the saver level, but I’m not really in the mood to fly economy for 15 hours.
Thanks to View From the Wing for alerting me to the pointhacks.com.au’s post on this.
Call AA to book. Agent made the reservation for 2 biz seats to Brisbane and 1 biz seat Melbourne but Qantas would not release those seats to AA or Alaska. Seats are still available for booking on BA.com.
Alex, you may want to hang up and call back. If it’s bookable on BA.com you should be able to book it through AA.
Same thing for me Ed. Put a reservation on hold for April 4th to Sydney and now qantas won’t confirm. Put the award on hold till the 20th of January which also struck me as odd.
Thomas, you put it on hold with an AA call center rep? I’ve never heard of that happening.
As I was working on another blog post I saw this post from Ben: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2016/01/16/award-ticket-recourse/
He has some good suggestions, though they’re geared more towards ticketed awards than something put on hold. Not sure about recourse for awards on hold.
