You’ve heard me say it so many times over the years.  Hyatt Globalist status is the most rewarding hotel status out there.  Typically reserved for road warriors and very dedicated Hyatt fans, it typically requires you to stay 60 nights in hotels each year (or spend a bunch in hotels and/or on their credit cards).

Bilt Rewards has started to gain a reputation of launching cool, new promotions on the first of each month (dubbed Rent Day).  I took advantage of their very generous 100% transfer bonus to Hawaiian Airlines to cross Hawaii off my bucket list with an upcoming trip.  At the time, I thought that was the best Rent Day offer to date.  This month’s offer is better.

Hyatt is giving all Bilt members Explorist status in the World of Hyatt program, and you can earn top-tier Globalist status if you stay 20 nights between April 17th and July 16th, 2023.  You have to register by April 1st.

You don’t need to hold the Bilt Rewards Mastercard to take advantage of this offer, you just need to be a Bilt Rewards member (free to join).  Here are the steps to sign-up for the Hyatt status challenge:

  • Bilt members must join the World of Hyatt loyalty program here if they don’t have an account already
  • Link your Bilt Rewards and World of Hyatt accounts in the Bilt app under the “Travel” tab
  • Between March 28 and April 1, choose “Unlock World of Hyatt Elite Status” on the Rent Day tab in the Bilt app
  • Receive confirmation by April 17 of your World of Hyatt Explorist status and enjoy exclusive benefits for 90 days through July 16
  • Complete 10 qualifying nights between April 17 and July 16 to keep Explorist status through February 2025, or complete 20 qualifying nights to earn Globalist status through February 2025

Compared to their competitors, Hyatt offers more to their top-tier elite members.  The free breakfast benefit is substantially better.  At many full-service properties without a club lounge, breakfast can mean full breakfast in the restaurant for up to a family of four.  They offer a true 4pm late checkout at most hotels.  They message this upon check-in, “Will you need a 4pm late checkout on this stay?”  And, they do a great job of making fees like parking disappear on award bookings.  You can also use their Guest of Honor benefit to book a room for a friend or family member and they’ll get all the benefits of Globalist status for their stay.

While Globalist status can be incredibly rewarding, you will need to earn 60 nights to achieve some of the Milestone Rewards.  This includes a personal concierge and the very valuable Globalist suite upgrade awards.  But, if you complete the 20-night challenge by July, you’re well on your way to 60 nights.  And, you’ll have the status through February 2025.

Hyatt now has two credit cards (a personal and a business card) that can help you earn elite status as well.  If Globalist has been on your wish list, the Bilt promo should make you get off the sidelines.

Rent Day Keeps Getting Better

I’m already well on my way to re-qualifying for Globalist status this year, so I won’t be able to take advantage of this offer.  However, it’s the most valuable Rent Day offer Bilt has introduced thus far, and with my favorite hotel chain.

This is on top of the double points earning on the first of the month for Bilt Rewards Mastercard holders (on all spending but rent).  I need to get better at “saving up” my spending for the first of the month, when you can earn 6X on dining purchases, 4X on travel and 2X on everything else.

There is no other no annual fee card that offers the value that Bilt does to their members. It’s only been a few weeks since they rolled out 5X points on Lyft rides, and now they’re back with a great offer to earn Hyatt elite status.

  1. Bilt promotion page says Globalist status extended through February 29, 2025, with 20 stays. 2024 is the leap year, not 2025. I wonder if 2025 is a typo, and instead should only be through 2024?

      1. Yes, thanks. I see that now, and have registered. The first page I clicked through to said “February 29, 2025”; thus my confusion.
