Targeted Awesome Offer, 1,000 Bonus AAdvantage Miles For Each Night At Hyatt!

As we start to return to travel after what seems to be the worst of the pandemic, travel companies are starting to flex their ability to encourage customers to travel.  Early on, though prices were low we didn’t see too many promotions.  That was probably an indication that airlines and hotels didn’t think they could convince people to get out there and book a trip.  We’ve actually seen fewer incentives than I would have expected so far.  Low prices are certainly an incentive, but I don’t think that alone is enough to fill all the seats and beds available.  A promotion announced today by Hyatt and American Airlines is something I expected to see more of by now.

1,000 Bonus Miles Per Night

As Hyatt noted in a release this morning:

Through the World of Hyatt and AAdvantage® strategic loyalty alliance, select World of Hyatt and AAdvantage® members who have linked their accounts can earn 1,000 AAdvantage® bonus miles per eligible night at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including all participating MGM Resorts destinations, Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) hotels and Lindblad Expedition experiences, between April 15 through July 31, 2021. This bonus is in addition to the one AAdvantage® bonus mile per eligible U.S. dollar spent with Hyatt that World of Hyatt and AAdvantage® members with linked accounts already earn.

Here’s where you can check to see if you’re eligible.

Alas, I wasn’t.  This would have been a really sweet double-dip!

The Final Two Pennies

There have been very few hotel promos over the past five years that were truly good enough to move business from one hotel chain to another.  Some promotions were worth picking one hotel chain over another if you hadn’t already made plans.  But, the average promo wasn’t enough to make me go through the hassle of cancelling a booking and moving it elsewhere.

This promotion clearly falls into that category.  I don’t spend a bunch of time figuring out how much miles and points are worth, generally using guides from others on the internet and my experience over the years.  But, I don’t think you have to be a math nerd to realize that an extra 1,000 airline miles per night is well worth the effort.  A typical 3-night road warrior hotel stay would earn Hyatt points as well as the normal AAdvantage miles through their partnership and 3,000 AAdvantage miles.  With web savers from American, a few stays at Hyatt during the promotion period could be an easy one-way flight for an upcoming vacation.
