Here Are My Favorite Travel Podcasts (And A Few More)

a close-up of a radio

I’ve been an avid podcast listener for quite some time.  That was part of why I started my own podcast, Miles To Go.  After roughly 6 months of experience on that podcast, I decided it was time to start a second podcast, NowBoarding.

I try to add one new podcast to my stable every week.  Listening to other podcasts helps me come up with ideas for my own podcast.  Over the years, I’ve developed a list of my favorite podcasts.  Here’s a look at what’s in my Apple Podcasts app:

Travel Podcasts

Dots, Lines & Destinations: The first travel podcast I ever listened to.  Stephan, Seth and Fozz were a big part of the inspiration to start my own podcast.

Observation Deck: Hosted by two travel bloggers, Trevor from Tagging Miles and Joe From As The Joe Flies.  Trevor and Joe get together every two weeks to discuss a variety of travel subjects.  They even had me on to talk donuts (and travel) recently.

Disney Deciphered: A fairly new podcast dedicated to Disney World.  Joe, one of the hosts of the Observation Deck, teams up with Leslie from Trips with Tykes in this timely format.

Vacation Mavens: Kim and Tamara talk family travel, covering everything from Disney World to Machu Picchu.

A Few More Podcasts

I listen to more than just travel.  Here are a few of my favorite podcasts outside the travel genre:

In The Dark: Currently my favorite podcast.  Investigative journalism at its best.  Two seasons centered around two criminal investigations you may not believe.

Peter King Podcast: The venerable sports reporter turns over a new page with a new podcast.

How I Built This: Guy Raz interviews some of the best known names in business (Gary Kelly, Southwest Airlines) to find out…how they built their businesses.  Guy is a great host that knows how to extract a great story from his guests.

The Final Two Pennies

These are just a few of my favorite podcasts.  I’ve got more that I’ll bring you in a future post.  My podcast app is bulging with over 3 dozen ones right now.  More importantly…..

What are your favorite podcasts?  I’m always looking for a new one!

  1. Seems like you’re missing out on the Layovers podcast for sure. I also like This Week In Travel and for cruise stuff I enjoy Cruise Radio and River Cruise Radio. Modhop is OK but not as good as the ones you mention. By the way your Miles to Go podcast is very good.
