Cheap Tickets to Mexico and Let Them Drink (Tomato Juice)

a city with many tall buildings

The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel stories that interested me on a daily basis. I don’t have time to write about them in length, but picked some of the best below. It’s a shortcut to find out what’s going on without reading dozens of travel blogs to get the best info. Today’s highlights include cheap tickets to Mexico and the popularity of tomato juice at 30,000 feet.

In Case You Missed It

It’s almost time for summer vacation and this week on Miles to Go, Summer from Mommy Points joins me to chat all things Orlando Theme Parks! If you’re starting to plan a trip and unsure about staying on property or not, or how an annual pass to Universal is cheaper than a three-day ticket, this is a great listen for you!

Speaking of Orlando…have you ever thought to yourself “How much does Disney World spend on fireworks?” Well, good news: I have the answer. You’re welcome.

If you’re planning a trip to Denver and are trying to decide the best way to get from the airport to downtown, here’s my quick guide on the (kinda) new train.

My daughter Cat showed me this cool YouTube video on creative airports and airlines…she might have a future in travel blogging! The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Pizza in Motion readers and followers know I’m an “If it’s not Boeing, I’m not Going” kinda guy! Here’s a throwback from the time I got to partake in a Boeing 737 MAX 8 delivery flight.

This Week’s Best Travel Deals

So many sales on great routes to Asia! This new deal is for flights between LAX/SFO and Bangkok on Hong Kong’s 2nd largest carrier starting at $459 RT.

London Calling! Nonstop flights SFO-LHR starting from $502 up to the low $600s on travel from August 2018 – March 2019.

What’s better than heading to NYC for the holidays? When you’re flying there in business class. Enjoy Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years in NYC from various European destinations for as low as $1500 RT.

Cheap tickets to Mexico from multiple US markets with travel dates through the fall for as low as $185 RT!

The Best of the Rest

United Airlines heard their passengers loud and clear this week and have reversed plans to cut out this popular drink from their menu.  Still not quite sure why they did away with it if they had the ability to bring it back….

The airline’s compensation for damaged (or lost) luggage is just as bad as a flight delay or cancellation. No amount will make up for missing your kid’s recital or that lost vintage jacket. That’s why I don’t check bags. But if you do, take a lesson from this guy who took a destroyed bag that cost $397 and turned it into over $1200 in TUMI gear (and a flight certificate).

With recent changes to various hotel loyalty programs, you might be re-evaluating which one is best for you. Here’s a great guide on which one is most rewarding!

A bit more news about United. Glad to see that they are shifting strategy at their EWR and IAD hubs…Strategy is good, but I’m holding my breath to see if these changes materialize.

Speaking of changes to hubs, American announced additional service to Mexico and Latin America back in March.  They’ve just announced three new daily flights to Cancun (seasonally) from DFW (1x) and ORD (2x) on a 787!
