Cheap Summer Fares To Europe Are Back! Paris, Rome, Amsterdam and More

Paris

Last week saw a somewhat rare sale for summer travel to Europe by the big US-based carriers.  While not the lowest fares we’ve ever seen, they were pretty reasonable for last-minute summer (and some fall) travel.  United was attacking American Airlines in their hubs, and American followed suit.

It looks like we’re getting a repeat of that with $431 round-trip fares on United from some American hubs to Europe:

Charlotte to Paris and Rome

Philadelphia to Amsterdam and Rome

Dallas to Amsterdam, Paris and Rome

These fares aren’t just for summer. They appear to be available here and there through January of 2018.

American, not to be outdone, is targeting some United cities and throwing a few others on sale:

Washington, DC, Chicago, Boston, Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles

To

Dublin, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels and more.

The Final Two Pennies

Don’t think of a Charlotte to Rome fare sale as “Charlotte to Rome”, or any other two city pairs for that matter.  Think of it as “US to Europe”.  Use cheap flights or miles and points to cover that last leg to your dream destination.  Similarly, when fares are this cheap, leverage your points to save on hotel rooms to give yourself a truly affordable trip to Europe.

Cities like Rome are centrally located enough to get to lots of places in Europe.  In less than a 3-hour flight gets you to all kinds of interesting places, like Paris, London, Greece, Germany, Amsterdam and a whole lot more great cities.
