Marriott sets a new direction for the Aloft and Element brands.  I’ve pretty much written off the Aloft brand unless it’s the best located property for where I’m going.  The other chains just have better limited service offerings.  Element, on the other hand, is a nice brand.  I like the extra space and the small kitchen.  The words “portable wine cart” make me smile.  And, the public space improvements sound really interesting for family travel.

American Airlines has a 1,000 mile bonus for their shopping portal right now.

A hotel was held hostage by hackers when they disabled their ability to make guys for guest rooms.  I really have to sit down and think about this more.  Depending on how vulnerable these systems are in hotels, this could be a big issue for the hotel industry.
