Here’s what I’m reading about in the world of miles and points:
Cheap Flights of the Day:
Qatar Airways has a fantastic sale going on right now for trips that originate outside of the US. While it might not be relevant for everyone, there are some low fares to the US. There’s also ways to use this sale to leverage elite status on American Airlines while getting around the new revenue requirements. More details on those points here.
There continue to be really good prices to Europe, with Delta offering fares from $400-$500 to Vienna right now. We just got back from a European trip that saw 2 days in Vienna. What a great city, and easy to hop to a number of other places in Europe from there via train and plane.
If the Caribbean is more your thing, JetBlue has Barbados on sale for around $200.
In Case You Missed It:
Were you targeted for a 10,000 point bonus from American Express? This is an easy one to achieve if you’re eligible.
Two United pilots showed up drunk for a flight…..No, this isn’t the start of a joke or a remake of the movie Flight (you know, where Denzel Washington landed a plane upside down while drunk, saving hundreds of lives).
Cranky Flier flew 8 flights in one day involving 9 different airports. Why? Well, because. It’s a great story.
There are a few quieter ways to earn miles than just charging your day-to-day purchases on your credit card. One of those is buying and reselling goods. It’s perfectly legal, but keeps getting more complicated. Here’s an update from one of the folks who’s very active in the space about some pretty painful Amazon rules.
