Cheap Flights To Europe From All Over The US, Spirit Pushing The Limits On Passenger Comfort. Best of The Rest For August 29, 2015

The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length.  On a daily basis, I try to keep track of roughly 100 different blogs (try being the operative word) that have interesting things for you and I to learn from.  Some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others.   This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.

Here’s what I’m reading about today:

Cheap Flight(s) of The Day: Europe is on sale and in a big way.  Dublin for $418 from my home city of Washington, DC is one of the lowest.  But, as The Flight Deal tells us, this sale covers a lot of departure cities.  Newark, Chicago, SFO, LAX, Seattle, Denver and many more.  Grab that ticket you need to lock up status for 2016.

Tiffany from One Mile at a Time lets us know that there are free Uber rides in Seattle this weekend.

Matthew Klint has a sneak peek at United’s new safety video.  United released a “movie-style” trailer for their new safety video.  It looks pretty humorous.

Expedia is offering $75 off a $300 hotel booking if you book by August 28th, 2015.  Thanks for the report, Magic of Miles.

An engaging tale of how Spirit scored a $100,000 fine for violating DOT requirements to provide food and water as well as a way off a parked airplane.  There’s two sides to every story and Spirit could be telling the truth. But, two hours on the ground without food or water after a 3-hour flight seems like a pretty long time to be acting in the best interest of your passengers.

The shortest 787 flight in the world is shorter than my commute to my old office.
