It was late last year when we learned that the Hyatt Churchill, London had been shut down because of an explosion.  While there were injuries, thankfully there were no fatalities.

There were rumors that the opening was coming up and now there’s confirmation that they’ve reopened. It’s a beautiful property and it’s great to have it back in the Hyatt fold.  The article also notes that they’re moving ahead with some renovations:

An additional bit of good news is that the hotel has taken the closure to not only do the repairs necessary after the incident, but kick off a multi-million pound renovation of the rooms and suites as well. That renovation should be complete by the summer; we don’t have any visuals of the changes yet, but will share them when we have more details.

There’s a juicy nugget in the article about the Grosvenor House, currently a JW Marriott:

Meanwhile, an additional bit of gossip related to Hyatt and London this past week: City A.M. and various other newspapers are reporting that the group is considering picking up Grosvenor House, the current JW Marriott hotel on Park Lane.

Boy, wouldn’t that be a nice addition?  With only the Churchill and an Andaz in the market, they can certainly use another property in London.
