US Airways Is Offering Their 100% Bonus On Purchased Miles Again

In their efforts to continue proving me wrong, US Airways is offering a 100% bonus on purchased miles again through May 25, 2014.

I had said last year that I believed once the merger with American Airlines was approved, US Airways would still selling miles so cheaply.  Given, they’ve raised the price over the years, and these miles will cost you just shy of 1.9 cents a piece, a far cry from when they were selling them for about a penny.  That’s still about 2 or 3 tenths of a cent less than the best prices American Airlines has offered in the past.

I’m seriously considering this offer, as I’m actively hunting for a redemption on US Airways right now in the range of 150K miles.  The price to buy the tickets I’m trying to get with award miles is almost $4K, so that makes it a good deal on paper.  But, I do have a pretty healthy stock of miles and I’m not starting to convince myself that US Airways may continue this offer sporadically throughout the year.

All that being said, if you’re short miles for an upcoming redemption OR want to add a trip this year, buying these miles for premium travel overseas is surely the cheapest way to go, especially considering that you can now book oneworld awards with US Airways miles.  And, as View From the Wing was nice enough to point out, you can book British Airways flights with no fuel surcharges right now.

If you do take advantage of this offer, you’ll need to purchase/gift at least 30,000 miles to get the 100% bonus.  And, you’ll find a typo on the offer page.  The 100% bonus applies to purchases up to 50,000 miles:
