The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
There are lots of great things to talk about in the travel world. There are unbelievable first class seats to far away destinations. There are fabulous meals and wines. There are landmarks and sights to see, things that will leave you in awe of what the world has created. Waterfalls, mountains, monuments, churches, temples. Champagne, cheese, candies and treats. I had to run over there earlier in the […]
I remember deciding to go shopping early on Black Friday one year. I can’t even blame my wife because it was at least as much my decision as it was hers. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that the discounts probably weren’t worth the mass pandemonium and long lines everywhere I went. And, this was a few years ago, where admittedly maybe the deals weren’t as good as they are today but the crowds were certainly smaller than today’s craziness. So, why not just stay home and […]
I guess Virgin America is having trouble filling seats around Thanksgiving. They’ve got a reasonable fare sale in the market today covering November 23rd-30th. $179 one-way from IAD to LAX, $149 one-way from Chicago to the West coast. Maybe not rock bottom prices, but surely lower than I’ve seen around a holiday in the past. Most folks already have Thanksgiving plans, I’m sure. But, if you’re hunting for one more mileage run before the end of the year, I can see American offering similar fares in some markets like […]
