The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
Most people will know the program that covers such brands as Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental Hotels as Priority Club. They’ve changed the name of the program to IHG Rewards. I don’t find their program that rewarding so I don’t spend a lot of time writing about it or staying at the properties. That being said, they offered me a lucrative amount of points (71,800 in all) if I completed all the goals of the challenge. You need to register for the promotion to see what types of offers […]
Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for a StarMegaDO4 goodie bag. Starwood and Hyatt are busy expanding again in some interesting and useful places. With the recent emphasis on limited or select service property development in the US, I’m always happy to see more […]

Essentially, American is betting you’ll buy more ancillary services from them if they bundle them. I tend to think they’re right. There are 3 categories. Choice, the bottom tier, is essentially what AA offers today. A la […]
Hyatt 48Lex is a new property that’s been open about a year or so in Manhattan. Oddly enough, it’s located right near the corner of 48th and Lexington on the East side. It’s only a few blocks from Grand Central. You won’t see it from Lexington, it’s just around the corner on the Northeast corner of 48th and Lex. I checked in pretty late so I didn’t get to use some of the services the hotel had to offer. I had heard good things about the property, but I was […]
