Out A New Promo That Emphasizes Some Of My Thinking On Hotel Booking Channels

I was waiting for Hilton to announce their fall promo before I finished up my breakdown of all the fall hotel promos this week.  I didn’t think it was likely coming soon since they have a current promo that runs until the end of September.  Of course, shortly after I published my breakdown Hilton announced a promo, though I suspect there’s still more to come. Deals we Like has the scoop on the new Hilton offer for 1,000 bonus points when you book with their iPhone app.   Not too […]

Hilton’s Spring Promo More Rewarding For Weekends

Hilton has released news of their spring promotion that starts April 1st. It’s pretty straightforward.  Sign up, and you’ll earn 1,000 bonus points for each weekday night and 2,000 points for each weekend night you stay during the promotion period, which runs through June 30th.  There is no limit on earnings.   One of the initial “pluses” I see over Hilton’s 1st quarter promotion is that there are no excluded properties this time around.  The 1st quarter promotion had a looong list of properties who were not participating. But, it […]

Cleaning Up Odds And Ends From The Week on Sunday, February 17th, 2013

This Just In, 7 Points Per Dollar On Apple Purchases:  Via View From the Wing, Staples is going to start carrying Apple products soon.  I was in the middle of typing this post when I saw Gary’s post and this immediately became the #1 item to report on.  This is pretty big news in my book if you have an Ink Bold card, which pays 5 points per dollar for all office supply purchases, plus the 2 points per dollar you can earn using the Chase Ultimate Rewards mall.  I […]

Hyatt Announces Their Spring Promotion

View From The Wing has confirmation of the upcoming Hyatt promotion.  It runs from March 1st to May 31, 2013.  The confirmed details are: 3000 bonus points for every 3 nights stayed during the promotion period. 20% bonus for holders of the Hyatt Visa Card. Registration begins February 15th. So, how does this stack up against current promos by other chains past Hyatt promos?  Here’s a brief summary of Hyatt’s 2012 Fall Promo: Fall Hyatt Promo:  Guests earned 5,000 points after 5 nights, and an additional 10,000 points for each […]

Is The Founders Card Worth It?

Don’t forget to vote in my poll about the new American Airlines logo for a chance to win a free systemwide upgrade on a future flight. I generally don’t resort to what I would consider fringe programs that offer travel benefits.  I travel enough that I can earn most of the benefits I want and generate enough miles and points to redeem for all the vacations I want to take.  I’ve run across the Founders Card a few times in passing without giving it much thought. Through some random circumstances, […]

Getting a Handle On The 2013 First Quarter Hotel Promos

Things are in full swing for the first hotel promotions of 2013.  Once again, the important take away here is to register for all the promos even if you don’t think you’ll patronize a specific chain during the promo period.  Plans change frequently and it’s free to register.  So, take a few moments to register when the time comes. I already wrote about Starwood’s Power Up promo that starts January 15th.  Not overly thrilling, but a decent value. There’s a discussion on Milepoint about the new Marriott promo.  So far, […]

A Decent Hilton Giveaway If You’re On Facebook

I’m still not on Facebook, though inching closer.  And, I’m not a huge fan of the Hilton HHonors program.  But, there are so many Hilton brands across the world that they represent a necessary part of the travel ecosystem.  I don’t look to Hilton for luxury, per se.  But, you’re likely to find one in every city you travel to. Hilton is giving away 1 Million HHonors points every day for the next few weeks, along with other smaller prizes.  No purchase necessary, you just have to like them on […]

A Reasonable Summer Promotion From Hilton

I’m a bit late on reporting this, but Hilton has a double/triple points promotion in place for the summer.  Double points isn’t all that exciting considering that Hilton points aren’t all that valuable.  The triple points is more appetizing, but only valid for the weekend. This strikes me as a good offer for families taking to the road for vacation this summer.  There are tons of Hilton family properties (Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites, specifically) near major highways throughout the US.  Earning triple points for a long weekend away will […]

Reviewing My Status Progress For The Year

Earlier in the year I carved out my goals for 2012.  Since I just finished re-qualifying for Hyatt Diamond, now seemed like a good time to do a bit of homework to see if I was on track.  We’re not quite to the halfway point of the year, but it’s been a busy 5 months or so. American Airlines (Executive Platinum):  18K to go to finish out EXP for the year and I’ll earn 10K of those with credit card purchases.  This is a lock, and my favorite airline status. […]
