Marriott Rewards is tweaking an existing program that earns points essentially for free. The new annual point limit may make it worth paying attention to this.
The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
I have no idea. I saw the following button when I logged into my United Airlines MileagePlus account this morning. Might be new, or I might have missed it during previous trips to the website. It doesn’t stand out too much on the page. So, I bit. I clicked over to their Facebook page and liked it. Nothing happened. In fairness, it’s only been about an hour. I don’t see any notes on their page about what you get in return, nor have I received any FB message or e-mail. […]
American Airlines is offering a pretty easy 1,000 miles if you play a quick game they have on Facebook, and if you fly you can earn another 9,000 more. It feels like easy games like this to earn miles have become more scarce. Whether that’s true or not, there’s really no reason not to do this for everyone in your family. It’s roughly 1,000 free miles and it will extend the expiration of your accounts for another 18 months. I don’t know who originally coined the phrase in the frequent […]
I like my iPhone. I really do. There was a time where I used to have to look in the mirror and practice saying it. But now, it flows smoothly off my tongue. But, while it’s a device I rely on heavily (and couldn’t do without) and I really like it, I consider it more of a “best of breed”. Bottom line? I’m not in love. With it or any other smartphone. I’ve tried a handful of Android devices and found them all to be significantly harder to use consistently than the iPhone. Sure, […]
It’s been about 2 years since I dove back into blogging on a regular basis, focusing largely on travel. I’ve always really enjoyed writing but I never really found a medium where I could be successful. Since diving back in I’m really enjoying writing on a daily basis. More importantly, I’m really enjoying helping folks travel places they might not otherwise be able to. I was excited to be approached by friend and fellow travel blogger Daraius of Million Mile Secrets to conduct an interview about my little corner of the […]
It was just a week ago when American Airlines announced a new Facebook promo, and I’ll admit I was interested despite my dinosaur ways when it comes to social media. They announced they were giving away some portion of 3.21 Million AAdvantage miles. Essentially, they would burn down the miles bit by bit until they got 321,000 new likes of their Facebook page. It looks like it’s working out pretty good for them. They have about 100,000 new likes. But, the pace they are receiving likes is running slightly behind […]
Though the prize isn’t that large, American Airlines has a bit of an interesting new game out today revolving around the launch of the new Airbus321. If you like their Facebook page, you’ll have a chance to win 25,000 miles. The catch? They’re taking away 100 miles from the pool for every minute it takes to hit 321,000 new likes. When I logged on a moment ago they already had 1,000 likes but had also burned 9,000 miles from the pool. While it’s still early, smarter folks than me will […]
Thanks to everyone who submitted pictures for the contest to win a free airline ticket. It was very tough selecting the finalists. There were so many great pictures! Let’s go over the rules before we get to the finalists. First, the finalists are competing for one (1) award ticket for coach travel on American Airlines in the continental US, Canada or Mexico. Travel needs to be booked by the end of 2013, but can be completed at any time open for award availability either this year or next year. The winner […]
Pictures are such an easy thing to take nowadays. Virtually everyone has a smartphone, and most smartphones take pictures as good (or sometimes better) than digital cameras. For our family, that means lots more memories captured when we travel. I was trying to think of a good contest to have this fall and also happened to be reviewing some of our summer vacation pics. And, that’s where I came up with the idea for the contest. First, I’m giving away one free coach ticket in for travel on American Airlines […]
