The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
If someone as out of shape as me can climb the tower, you can do. It’s actually an affordable alternative for a larger family and can save you some time waiting in line for the elevators. If you want to ride the elevator, book early. If you don’t, I have a way to help get you there when you think it’s too late.
It was a whirlwind trip to Paris. We were able to squeeze in 2 trips to the Eiffel Tower, lunch and macaroons as well as some walking around Paris. Our flight delay really threw a wrench in that first day as we never really got in the groove to get anything accomplished. I can’t say that Paris blew me off my feet, but she convinced me I want to come back and see more. I’d choose a trip back to Italy before I would loop back to the City of Light but I do know I’ll see more of Paris. There’s more the city has to offer me and I’ll look forward to peeling back the layers in the future.
The Park Hyatt Place Vendome in Paris is a spectacular property. The staff are exceedingly welcoming. The rooms are impeccable. The junior suite we stayed in was beautiful and spacious. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve seen.
It’s a digital world, for sure. But I’m a bit old-fashioned when it comes to books. I like a newspaper to flip through in the morning and my adventure planning begins when I crack open the cover of a Fodor’s book for the destination I’m traveling to. I spend plenty of time online researching my destination as well, but a book is a part of my planning.
