50% More Miles From US Airways, Is Delta Really Charging Elites More For Award Tickets And More Travel News

Is Delta really charging elite members more for awards than non-elite members?  Wow, that technology needs help. Meanwhile, US Airways MasterCard is offering 50% more miles on all transactions from March 1st through June 30, 2015 in a very widely targeted offer. JetBlue is intent on expanding to international service at Long Beach Airport.  That’s good news for fans of the airline, but it looks like there’s going to be a fight to get this done.  JetBlue is largely irrelevant to me since they’ve killed most useful flights out of […]

MASSIVE CHANGES: United Airlines MileagePlus, Revenue-Based Earning In 2015

United Airlines has a huge announcement today.  Starting March 1, 2015 all tickets will earn miles based on the price of the ticket, not the distance traveled. United has a webpage that discusses the changes, but here’s what you need to know: Similar to Delta’s recent announcement, the amount of miles you earn on a specific ticket are based on not only the price of your ticket but your status level, as follows: General Members:  Earn 5 miles per dollar Premier Silver:  Earn 7 miles per dollar Premier Gold:  Earn […]

Things I Find Interesting On Saturday, December 14th, 2013

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for Milepoint Premium Membership! Southern Travel Girl has the scoop on a pretty cool giveaway from one of my favorite companies, Apple.  They’re doing a promotion starting the day after Christmas called the 12 days of Christmas, where you can download something free every day.  Pretty cool after Christmas fun. Wandering Aramean provides a compelling comparison of Systemwide Upgrades across the domestic US legacy carriers.  He arrives at the same conclusion that I did (though admittedly with less bias than me) that American is still likely […]

News And Notes For Saturday, August 17th, 2013

Delta is raising the price of international award tickets again.  As View From The Wing points out, these are not small increases.  25% more miles for some of the common routes, like US to Europe, is “gulp” worthy. Were you one of the lucky folks who got in on this awesome “mistake” status challenge offer from American Airlines before it went away?  If not, it’s just another good reason to keep an eye on Milepoint for travel secrets you won’t find every day. Or, on a more somber note, were you […]

Lots Of Miles For Mother’s Day Flowers

Just a quick reminder that the online florists generally pay out tons of miles per dollar if you go through one of the various shopping portals.  I’ve included a list with links.  This is nowhere near comprehensive, but should give you a good idea what’s available out there: American Airlines AAdvantage: 30 miles per dollar from FTD.  Elite members of the AAdvantage program earn an extra 100 miles per order. 30 miles per dollar from 1800-Flowers   United Airlines Mileage Plus: 30 miles per dollar from FTD   US Airways […]

News & Notes For Thursday, October 25th

More Hyatt growth.  They’ve announced a new Hyatt Place in Times Square.  And, they’re adding another Park Hyatt, this time in Qingdao, China. The TSA kinda screwed up in a pretty meaningful way in terms of randomizing security.  Wandering Aramean details how they could have avoided the problem. Mommy Points has a humorous but very useful post about the aftermath of no Grand Slam promo this year.  I’m sorry to say it’s gone as well.  Last year was my first year participating and it was an easy 100K miles. And, […]
