US Veteran? JetBlue Is Offering Free Flights To New Orleans

This is an interesting opportunity that won’t apply to everyone.  But, since it supports a worthwhile cause I figured I would include a quick write-up.  It’s an especially good opportunity if you’re a World War II vet.

JetBlue is offering free flights to New Orleans from Fort Lauderdale, Boston and New York if you purchase a ride on the PT-305, an operational PT boat cruising in Lake Pontchartrain.

If you’re a WWII vet, you don’t even have to purchase a ticket on the PT-305.  JetBlue will fly you to New Orleans and the National WWII Museum will give you a free ride on the PT-305.

My father is a veteran of the Air Force.  He worked on the Delta Dart 50+ years ago.  I’m exceptionally proud of his service.  I also know how much pride he takes in it, and the folks he served with.  I’m guessing that vets who recall these PT boats would enjoy getting to spend time on one.  Heck, it’s powered by airplane engines!

The Final Two Pennies

I have a lot of respect for JetBlue.  I wish they flew more places from my home airport of Washington-Dulles.  They continue to do some pretty cool things when it comes to vets, charity and just all-around fun stuff.  I definitely applaud their efforts here.

If you’re not a WWII vet, a ticket on the PT-305 costs $305 (it took me a minute or two to make that connection) and goes to support the boat, crew and restoration effort.

But, if you’re a WWII vet, the round-trip airline ticket and boat ride are completely free.  And, that’s pretty darn cool.
