How Can I Help? The Customer Service Desk Is Open!

I was searching through old posts last night and realized it’s been just over a year since I was surprised with the Darren Booth award.  If you’re unfamiliar, you can read about it here.

The short version of the story is that the award was named after friend and fellow blogger Darren Booth.

As a side note, I bet Darren would have loved the 747 amenity kits United is handing out right now.

How Can I Help?

There have been some awesome winners.  You should check out their blogs.  The first two recipients in 2014 were the chief bloggers from Running with Miles and Michael W Travels, followed by Shawn, chief blogger at Miles to Memories and a truly dear friend of mine, Jeanne of Le Chic Geek.  Finally, there was Muslim Travel Girl and me.

Enough History

How can I help?  I’m here to answer any questions you have.  I love helping people. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll find someone who does.  Let me help make your next vacation/business trip a better one.

You can leave a comment here, you can e-mail me at ed -at- pizzainmotion.com.  Tweet me, find me on Facebook.  Just let me know how I can help.

  1. First off, thanks for doing this. I’m thinking about applying for both the personal and business AA Barclay credit cards. I’m wondering if there’s a combined credit pull from doing this. Any idea where I’d find out about this?

  2. Hi and thanks for doing this!

I am based out of Costa Rica, which always limits my possibilities of finding cheap flights and leveraging credit cards for miles/points…

I want to do something nice with my fiancee. Can you help me with some options to redeem miles and hotel points in a way that makes sense? (Maybe Asia?)

I have >185 K United miles and >60 K SPG points. It can be Economy and low-end SPG properties. I just want to squeeze as much value as possible from these miles/points.

    Thanks!!!

    1. Riccardo, destinations where I think you can get decent value from your SPG points are places like Australia, Singapore or Hong Kong. Those are also places that I think you’d likely have good luck finding economy awards for two folks. Do you have a subscription to ExpertFlyer?

      1. Just the free account. But i am looking at the subscriptions and I see your point!
Is there a guide/tutorial on how to best leverage it?

  3. Ed, Thanks for having this, and the meetups in the DC area. I’m planning to take my son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters on a Disney cruise in March of 2019. I have (among others): a Barclay World Arrival Plus, the Bank of America Premium Rewards card and a Cap one Venture. My stategy is to accumulate points on all 3 to use to offset the cost of the cruise. We’re thinking of booking through the Underground Tourist. Airfare will be taken care of by using either our store of AMEX or UR points. What else can I do to hack this trip?

    Thanks!

    1. I’ve never booked a cruise through Underground Tourist. However, I’ve always used a travel agent of some sort to book a cruise. The one I used for years used to give us 10% of our fare as onboard credit (essentially a 10% discount since we spent that much on excursions, wine, etc). To my knowledge, that’s pretty much table stakes in the cruise industry. Has your significant other applied for the same cards to double your sign-up bonuses?

  4. I’m a current Hyatt Globalist that has shifted all my business to SPG, so only have two stays this year thanks to MGM stays. I just checked my Hyatt account and noticed I have four suite upgrades that expire in the near future. Is there anyway to gift these to someone? I shouldn’t mention that I let two free award nights expire! 🙂
