New Hyatt Promo! Double Points Through The End Of The Year And Wellness Offers

And last, but not least…..we have a Hyatt promo for the end of 2017.  And, it’s a good one!

Hyatt will be offering double points on all eligible stays through the end of 2017.  You’ll need to register for the offer before you stay and no later than November 30, 2017.

All properties are participating, which means you should be able to earn double points on pretty much any paid Hyatt stay through December 31, 2017.

I really love promotions that don’t have a bunch of exclusions.  SPG is famous for having a bunch of properties that don’t participate in most of their promos.  That’s frustrating to members who just want a clear understanding of how they are rewarded.

How Does The Hyatt Promo Stack Up Against Others?

Starwood Preferred Guest had some targeted offers before they released their final promotion of the year, Explore More.  Some properties earn 1,000 bonus points per stay, while others earn 500 per stay.  The “per stay” part here is pretty key.  For short stays at full-service hotels, SPG might be better value than Hyatt.

For limited service properties and most stays longer than one night, I’d lean towards Hyatt.  Double points means 5 additional points per dollar spent at Hyatt properties.  SPG awards 2 base points per dollar.  They aren’t worth twice as much as Hyatt points, though they are more valuable.

The only clear-cut scenario where SPG earns you more value here is if you were targeted for an offer that stacks with Explore More.

Marriott’s promotion is stay twice, earn a free night.  If you haven’t already achieved this promotion and have two short stays between now and the end of the year, Marriott is probably the right play.  The free night is capped at Category 5 hotels, which cost 25,000 points per night.  If you were 100% sure you were going to use the free night at a Category 5 hotel, then it’s easier to figure out the value.

If you weren’t 100% sure, I might try to make sure those two stays were shorter stays.  Two weeklong stays to earn one extra free night would likely get you more value with a different promotion.

If you didn’t mind a little bit of inconvenience, the best strategy there is to find 2 one-night stays to grab that Marriott free night.  From there, I’d lean towards the Hyatt promo.

Final Thoughts On The Hyatt Promo

Hyatt is late to the game with their final promotion of the year.  It’s been just just over a month since they elevated the loyalty program by having it report directly to the CEO.  Two weeks ago they announced a new day-to-day leader for World of Hyatt.  The fact that we’re seeing a promo so shortly after these announcements is a good sign.  They easily could have punted until next year.

It’s a pretty straightforward promotion and a fairly valuable one.  The Hyatt promotion comes out ahead in most scenarios against Marriott and SPG.

Hotel promotions are free to sign-up for and take almost no time to do so.  While your plans might already be set for the rest of the year, plans do change.  When they do, you might not remember to go back and register for the Hyatt promotion.  Take a minute and register now so you don’t forget later.

Exhale Wellness Offer

Hyatt has increased their emphasis on wellness over the past couple of years and continues to do so with an offer to test out Exhale’s “Week of Wellbeing”:

From November 15 through February 28, 2018, World of Hyatt members who are new exhale guests can enjoy a Week of Wellbeing, which, for $30 for a one-week package, includes unlimited fitness classes, 20% off spa therapies, and 10% off wellbeing boutique purchases. Proof of World of Hyatt membership must be presented upon check-in to take advantage of this offer, which is valid at participating exhale locations with a spa, namely: Atlanta Midtown, Boston Battery Wharf, Boston Back Bay, Dallas, Miami Downtown, Miami Bal Harbour, Miami South Beach. The New York Flatiron exhale is separately offering World of Hyatt members who are new exhale guests a Week of Wellbeing one-week package for $40, which includes unlimited fitness classes and 10% off wellbeing boutique purchases. In addition to a Week of Wellbeing, exhale is also offering $10 off a fitness class and/or $25 off a 60 or 90-minute spa therapy at participating exhale locations through February 28, 2018. I’m not the healthiest person in the world, but I’m trying.  None of these facilities is in my hometown.  However, I’ll do my best to find one on the road and report back.

If any readers get the chance to test out one of these facilities I hope you’ll fill us in.

  1. The problem with this promo is that you have to book using the DBL Points room rate. Not the “normal” rate.
In my case, to get the DBL points my rate would be an additional $34 a night. That equates to extra points costing .03 a point. No thanks.

    1. Patrick, I THINK you are misunderstanding the promotion. I’ve had this question come up a few times since yesterday and I’m waiting for Hyatt to provide me an official answer. But, I have every reason to believe that the double points rates you’re seeing at some properties are completely separate from the promotion.

      1. The DBL points tab is there for all properties that I have searched on so far. That being said, I’ve never noticed that DBL points tab until just recently. I’ll be interested in seeing what answers you get from Hyatt.
