Chase Hyatt Credit Cardholders Can Now Earn Up To 50,000 Points By Referring Friends

The Hyatt Credit Card will now offer a referral bonus for existing cardmembers who refer new card members.  Credit card sign-ups are big business.  Chase is no stranger to referral offers.  I’ve received them before for my Ink Business credit cards that I carry.  This is the first Hyatt Credit Card referral offer I can recall.

Hyatt reached out to me with the details:

Starting November 9, targeted Cardmembers can refer a friend to sign up for the Hyatt Credit Card and receive 10,000 Bonus Points per every new Cardmember who is approved for the Hyatt Credit Card. New Cardmembers who apply and are approved through their friend’s referral link will be offered the 40,000 sign up Bonus Points if they spend $2,000 on purchases with the Hyatt Credit Card in the first 3 months from account opening. Targeted Cardmembers can earn up to 50,000 Bonus Points in a calendar year for referring friends who successfully register for the card.

The offer is open to all active Hyatt Credit card members.

Is This A Good Offer For The Hyatt Credit Card?

I did a bit of poking around and this appears to match the best sign-up offer for the Hyatt credit card on the market right now.  In some ways, it’s less valuable than the original “two free nights” offer.  If you used that at a Category 7 property, you’d get the equivalent of 60,000 points (30,000 points a night).  However, not everyone redeemed those nights at a Category 7.  And, 40,000 points is still generous enough to get you a decent vacation.

Is The Hyatt Credit Card One That Should Be In Your Wallet?

Good question.  I carry the card and do think it has some unique benefits.  Hyatt has made a habit out of offering certain benefits to cardmembers only.  The most unique one is the annual offer for a 10% rebate on award bookings.

The bonus categories on the card are decent:

  • 3 points per dollar on purchases made at Hyatt properties.
  • 2 points on airline tickets and car rentals

You’ll also earn a free night each year (capped at a Category 4 hotel) and get Discoverist status.

The annual fee is $75.  The free night pays for the card, and you can certainly get more than $75 from it.  After that, any other benefits you get are gravy.

Hyatt also recently offered a status fast track opportunity to credit cardholders.

The Final Two Pennies

The referral offer is a good one for existing cardholders.  On top of the benefits you already enjoy with the card, there’s a chance to earn 50,000 points with this offer (if you’re targeted).

Someone with just a little bit of leisure travel each year would still find value in holding onto the card.  Business travelers who stay at Hyatt will see their points multiply faster.  There certainly are more powerful cards in my wallet.  But, the Hyatt Credit Card remains one that I get value from every year.

If you’re looking to have someone refer you, I’m happy to do so.  Here’s my referral link.

But, I’m also fine with readers earning points.  If you’re looking to refer people and earn points, post a comment below (and please keep it to one comment unless you’re replying to someone).
