Great Deal! $300-ish Round-Trip Flights To Asia!

The era of ridiculously cheap flights continues.  You’ll generally find me mentioning cheap flights to Europe on a weekly basis when the best deals pop up.  However, deals to Asia are more rare.

Frequent Miler has the dirt on a sale that’s as low as $316 round-trip from New York to Kuala Lumpur.  That’s a pretty fantastic fare.

I had originally started writing this up a couple of hours ago and then my mother-in-law called to tell me she and her husband had run out of gas.  True story, she was, ahem, not happy with him.  I had to run out and buy a gas can and go fill up their 1992 Pontiac Firebird.

The fares are very widely available.  Lots of dates into 2017.  Nick from Frequent Miler has plenty of good examples in his post.

The Final Two Pennies

The important thing to remember with any fare sale is not to think of this as “New York to Kuala Lumpur”.  This is from the US to Asia.  New York is a fairly easy area to find cheap/mileage flights to with so many airports in the region.  And, there are enough carriers in Asia to get somewhere else if you don’t want to hang out in Malaysia.

The fares are on United and ANA, so there are useful elite-qualifying and redeemable miles to earn.  Since these flights originate in the US, you’ll have 24 hours after you book to cancel these flights and receive a full refund.  That means if you’re on the fence you should probably book something and then cancel within 24 hours if you decide not to take the trip.  With prices this low, I don’t expect them to last much longer!

Happy Hunting!
