Is Disney World Adding A Brazil Pavilion to EPCOT?

Disney World has developed into a destination that appeals to people of all ages.  The Magic Kingdom is the place that most kids start their first Disney trip.  As they get older, the other parks become more appealing.  EPCOT, in particular, attracts older “children”, with country-specific areas and incredible festivals.  One of the few things that hasn’t changed about EPCOT since I was much younger are the countries represented in the various pavilions.

1988 was the last time a country was added (Norway).  Now, there’s a rumor that Brazil may be the next country added.  Blog Mickey, a reliable source for Disney developments, is reporting that a Brazil pavilion may find a home in between Germany and Italy.

Is This For Real?

There have been quite a few rumors over the years about changes to the World Showcase.  Disney has tweaked the various countries here and there.  They’ve also added some major changes like the Frozen Ever After ride in Norway.  Just no firm announcements on new countries.

Brazil makes sense (along with a bunch of others) as an addition to the lineup.  I sure hope to see it, as my kids are really starting to appreciate EPCOT.  As Blog Mickey notes, there’s a good chance this could be made official later this year.

What do you think about Disney adding Brazil to EPCOT?  Would you pick a different country?

  1. I’ve heard Spain is more likely than Brazil but both are possibilities and rumors. Over the years Disney has formally announced several new countries and most of them have never happened, so I’ll believe it when I see it.

  2. I’m mixed. Love the trains. Would love to see a new pavilion. But at the same time we mostly go during food and wine, so the countries are multiplied.

Of course when I think signature Brazilian dining, I’m more excited.

Disagree about the Frozen ride being a major overhaul though. The slapped up new wallpaper and were done. I was disappointed by that when I finally went on it.

  3. I visit Epcot World Showcase every year for my work. It has gotten tired over the years. It is a place that is great to visit once or perhaps twice. They need to add some zing with adults and older children in mind. I love the idea of Brazil but would welcome Spain as well.

    1. Diamond Dave, we still enjoy EPCOT, though we mostly end up there during the festivals. The addition of the food vendors makes it much more interesting. Still, we agree it could use some more updating, especially IllumiNations.

  4. Brazilians have an absurd interest in Disney – and often their first visit to the US is either Miami or Orlando. There is also a very high Brazilian population in Orlando.

  5. I root for Spain! A refreshing sangria in a hot summer day listening to some spanish guitars and flamenco dancers sounds delightful.
