How To Ride Frozen Ever After At Disney World’s EPCOT Without Waiting In Line

Disney World continues to find ways to add attractions that Disney fans love.  With the continued addition of awesome attractions, you would think that the wait times would come down at some point.  And yet, each time we visit the standby lines seem to get longer.  Disney World has been introducing a number of ways to bypass those lines.

One of the changes I loved the most was when Disney World tweaked the FastPass+ rules last year.  This made it much easier for families to score a few extra rides.  Heck, we were able to get 9 sets of FastPasses on a recent trip!  But, Disney has also been adding paid options to gain access to the parks at certain times.

The first package I can recall was the Early Morning Magic package at Magic Kingdom.  $69 for adults ($59 for kids) gets you breakfast and early access to some of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom.  Personally, I’d probably skip the breakfast and bounce back and forth between Pinocchio and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Disney World then added a similar package at Hollywood Studios.  That one doesn’t have as much appeal for our family, though we do love Toy Story Midway Games and Star Tours (well, our son loves Star Tours).

Now, Disney World is rolling out an evening event at EPCOT.  The Frozen Ever After Dessert Party gives you a seated view of IllumiNations, the nighttime fireworks/light show at EPCOT.  The pricing for a family of 4 actually works out to about the same as the Early Morning Magic.  Adults are $79, while children are $47.  The dessert buffet includes items such as:

  • Olaf’s warm double-chocolate s’mores pudding cake
  • Elsa’s warm cottage pudding with salted caramel glaze
  • Hand-dipped vanilla bean ice cream
  • Wandering Oaken’s éclairons
  • Hans’ key lime tarts with red glitter glaze
  • Living Rock crispy bonbons
  • Anna’s blue velvet cupcakes
  • Kristoff’s no-sugar-added lemon curd with blueberry
  • Sven’s fresh fruits and berries
  • Grand Pabbie’s winter-spiced snack mix
  • Duke of Weselton’s cheese fondue served with country bread cubes, broccoli and grilled flatbread

It’s a seated dessert, so you should have a great, comfortable view of IllumiNations.  The $79 adult ticket also includes adult beverages, including specialty cocktails, beer and wine.  That takes some of the sting out of the price.

The dessert experience also comes with the opportunity to ride Frozen Ever After.  The website doesn’t say how many times you get to ride, so I’ll assume it’s once.

Is It Worth It?

Even though this is $79, I feel oddly good about the value here.  IllumiNations isn’t our favorite fireworks show.  Wishes still holds that title, despite the pretty horrific/humorous final time we got to see it.  But, a reserved seat for the fireworks with a good view has some value.  Disney does have occasional partnerships for private fireworks viewing areas.

Let’s face it, Disney does dessert well.  While I’ve never been a big fan of most Disney breakfast offerings, they do know how to ply kids with sugary treats!  When you combine the specialty drinks (for adults and kids), I could see spending $20-$25 for a decent sit-down dessert at Disney World.  Combine that with reserved viewing for the fireworks and a ride on Frozen (normally close to a 2-hour wait on the standby line) and it almost (almost) seems priced accordingly, at least by Disney World standards.

There’s no way I’d do this every time we go to Disney World.  Heck, I’d be broke if I did!  But, I think I’d do this once, since Cat our daughter Frozen.

Do you think it’s worth the price?

  1. We’re on the fence about whether to do this party for our upcoming October trip. I think the value is decent if you have several drinks. Plus getting to ride Frozen without a fastpass is great. It’s just gets tougher to justify when I see the total of $530 + tax for our party of 8. Like all these parties, they’ll sell out so my tip is if you are on the fence, buy it now and then cancel if you decide it’s not worth it.

    1. Shaun, I totally get that dilemma. I have a hard time just with our family of 4. Paying $500++ is a tough nut to swallow But, hey, it is Disney. 😉 Good tip on booking now and cancelling later. Thanks for weighing in.
