Super Cheap Fares To Europe Pop Up Again. $300 To Spain

a city with a steeple and trees

It’s a really great time to book affordable travel to Europe.  While hotel prices are higher than in years past, airfare is comparatively cheap right now.  View From The Wing drew my attention to $300 round-trip fares to Spain right now.

The flights are on Air Europa.  I don’t have any experience flying Air Europe, nor did I immediately find a current review from a blogger I’m familiar with.  I did find a review of their European business class product that’s not too old.  One Mile at a Time is a reputable source of information.  That review is on a 737, whereas it appears Air Europe flies an A330 from JFK to Madrid.  I wouldn’t expect the economy seats to be much different, though.

If you don’t live in the New York area, there are still lots of cheap ways to get there.  Amtrak works great for folks located along the seaboard and you’ve also got multiple airports to choose from for cheap flights to the region.

As for Europe, Madrid isn’t “centrally” located, but you’d be surprised where you can get in just a few hours.  A train ride to Barcelona is less than 3 hours.  Plus, a 3-hour flight can get you to places like Paris, Rome, Lisbon, Athens, Sicily and a lot more.

The Final Two Pennies

Don’t think of a New York to Spain fare sale as “New York to Spain”.  Think of it as “US to Europe” and use cheap flights or miles and points to cover that last leg to your dream destination.  Similarly, when fares are this cheap, leverage your points to save on hotel rooms to give yourself a truly affordable trip to Europe.
