Wednesday Travel Humor

a blue background with black text

Just a bit of Wednesday travel humor.  Thanks to Justin M for sending this one along.  I definitely got a good chuckle out of it!  I’ve booked myself on the wrong flight, to the wrong city and on the wrong day.  Sometimes all of them on the same trip.

But, I’ve never done this…..

  1. The funniest thing that I have witnessed in my travels is this: Interesting, I just finished a survey and in it indicated that I had never witnessed road rage. After this incident, I went back into the survey and changed my answer. I was sitting on a regional jet next to a man who had only one arm. We were stuck on the tarmac for some time while they tried to repair a mechanical issue. Eventually, they cancelled the flight. Back at the desk one armed man was enraged when he found out he could not get on the next flight. When I stepped up to the counter they gave me a boarding pass for that next flight – this thanks to my status. One armed man couldn’t understand how I got a seat and he didn’t given that he got to the desk first.

He stayed angry, flailing his one arm, even up to the boarding of the next flight. Finally, he stood in front of the door and said if he couldn’t get on, no one was getting on. Despite pleas from the desk staff he wouldn’t budge until the police arrived. The police were very polite and warned him that if he didn’t cooperate they were going to put the handcuffs on him. Then one officer looked at the other and asked, “How we gonna do dat?” Everyone laughed, even angry man. The tensions seemed to ease and he finally cooperated. Humor carried the day. This story is pre-9/11. Today I don’t think the police would be so polite.
