GIVEAWAY: Alaska Airlines Companion Certificate

the tail of an airplane

NOTE: This certificate expires July 28th, which means it needs to be applied to a reservation and ticketed by then.  Please don’t enter unless you can do so.

Special thanks to reader Aarash for offering up an Alaska Airlines companion certificate.  For those not familiar, this allows you to purchase a second ticket on an Alaska Airlines flight for $121, including tax.

You have to ticket it by July 28th before the certificate expires.

I’ve never redeemed one of these, but from the folks I’ve spoken to the process is pretty straightforward.  Here’s a quick glimpse at some of the T&C:

Alaska Airlines Companion Certificate

Since there isn’t much time on this one, I’ll leave entries open through Sunday night, July 17th at 11:59 pm.

  1. I was wondering the same thing!! i will love to enter the giveaway of the companion!!
    Thanks for sharing

  2. I could really use this – I get one from the Alaska credit card, but bring my son BOS-SAN each year to visit my parents. I used mine up in April, but I’d like to visit them again, and $99 best the $400 or so that Alaska charges me every time.

  3. So there is no question you can give these away? The cardholder does not need to travel?Darn, I have let many of these expire when I could have saved some friends some serious cash.

  4. I’ll enter to win, thank you!

As someone who has done this in the past, the cardholder does not need to travel, but the cardholder does need to “be the name on the credit card…”

Even though there is no way for Alaska to know this. So yea, count me in! ENTER ME TO WIN! 🙂

  5. From the AlaskaAir site — “The Mileage Plan™ member who owns the companion fare discount code must either be one of the travelers or the purchaser of the reservation. If the member is allowing two travelers to use his or her companion fare discount code, then the member’s name must match the name on the credit card used to purchase the reservation.”

  6. Cardholder does not need to travel, but if they don’t, they need to be the one paying. Is Arash aware of this restriction?

Who can use my companion fare discount code?

The Mileage Plan™ member who owns the companion fare discount code must either be one of the travelers or the purchaser of the reservation. If the member is allowing two travelers to use his or her companion fare discount code, then the member’s name must match the name on the credit card used to purchase the reservation.

  7. FYI –

You’ll have to trust PizzaInMotion since he’ll have to book for you under his mileage plan account. He’ll also have the ability to cancel it.

You can’t just “give” these codes away. It’s much more complicated.

  8. Here are the flights from latest companion pass:
    DEN-SEA-PDX
    PDX-DCA
    DCA-PDX
    PDX-LAS

I love to maximize flying with Alaska and would be delighted to win one!

  9. Does the companion certificate require all segments to be on Alaska metal? For example, I’m close to DFW so when looking at booking options American frequently shows up as the first option and then Alaska for the second.
