Earn Up To 2,750 Miles On Car Rentals With United Airlines

I’m a Hertz guy and I used to keep better track of the ongoing bonus offers the rental car companies had with the various airlines.  But, when Hertz rolled out their own loyalty program I spent more time focusing on their program, especially the value of redeeming Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points for one-way rentals.  Things got a bit worse when they went through a devaluation but their rewards program is still a viable option for frequent travelers.

That being said, it’s not the perfect fit for everyone.  I noticed a United Airlines bonus for rentals at Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty that’s worth considering.

This bonus is especially valuable for short rentals since you can earn 1,500 bonus points for a 1-day rental (on top of whatever you’d earn given your status with United).  This makes it a worthwhile consideration for short rentals, whereas previously I though only longer rentals were a decent value to credit to United Airlines MileagePlus.

The promotion runs through May 31, 2016.  You can find more details about it here.

It’s important to note that these discount codes don’t always offer the lowest rate, despite the claim of 40% off.  Be sure to check the rate without this CDP and PC # to make sure you’re not paying more for the miles.

  1. I did not receive the bonus miles. Hertz said I must book it on United website to receive the bonus. Is that really the case??

My reservation did include the PC 305023. It is my understanding that a coupon will only be accepted if it is applicable.

Can anyone help me on this?

      1. The coupon was validated and included in the reservation, however. I would ask Hertz what I would get with the coupon. They can’t just say the coupon does not apply because it had been applied toward the reservation according to the email confirmation.

        1. I think this is one of those situations where United made a request/demand to make the bonus applicable only with bookings from their website without really thinking about how to effectively deploy their desired approach. End result is disappointed customers. But, if you fly United, that’s not exactly unique the last few years.
