Cheap Flights To Sao Paulo & A Great Charity That Needs Your Support. The Best of The Rest For Wednesday, August 4th, 2015

a glass dome with a fairy in it

Don’t forget I’m giving away two months of your own free travel assistant to everyone.

The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length.  On a daily basis, I try to keep track of roughly 100 different blogs (try being the operative word) that have interesting things for you and I to learn from.  Some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others.   This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.

As a side note, I’ve got some summer travel scheduled here and there, so the Best of the Rest (BOTR, as the cool kids would say) will take some breaks here or there for me to stop and smell the roses.

Here’s what I’m reading about today:

Cheap Flight(s) of The Day: DFW to Sao Paulo for $528 round-trip on AA.  Minimum 3-day stay, fare is valid until May, 2016.

American Airlines CEO Doug Parker cashes out another chunk of his stock.  After taxes, he netted $2.3MM.

Doctor of Credit has the scoop on how to earn a $50 Uber credit by opening a business account.

If you’re an aviation geek, 9/11 was every worst nightmare you’ve ever had.  I’ve been fortunate enough to be involved with an organization that has done fundraising for young pilots as a way to help preserve the memory of Jason Dahl, one of the pilots that gave his life on 9/11.  The Jason Dahl Fund is an organization run by some great folks and they’re having a fundraiser in September on the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.  There’s open cockpit time along with a bunch of other aviation activities.  As Brian’s post notes, the fund awarded 18 scholarships earlier this year, which is super exciting.  Get involved and help them raise a few more scholarships!

The hardest reservation to get at Disney World is now a shoe-in, thanks to Mommy Points!!!!

It looks like Hilton is getting in on the game for keyless entry to hotel rooms, with them starting to offer a bonus for trying out the new features.
