This week saw me squeeze a whirlwind of meetings into stops in Houston and San Antonio, along with a weather delay that trapped me in DFW an extra night. Along the way, my blog alter ego covered a wide range of topics. In case you missed it, here were some of those posts:
Miles & Points
American Airlines and Citibank are targeting bonuses to cardholders again this quarter. I was pretty impressed with my bonus offer, and I’m not the only one. I think I like it better than last quarter’s offer.
United Airlines has some good bonuses on their shopping portal, including higher earning rates on Sears, Old Navy and Shoes.com.
American Airlines is testing/blazing a different path to reward high-value customers that doesn’t kill the value proposition for normal folks (yet).
Week 3 of Daily Getaways still has some good deals left, though the best ones including Hyatt and Avis are history.
It’s also not too late to get a free Busch Gardens/Water Country USA pass for your young children.
Boeing is confronting a union vote in their South Carolina non-union factory. Surely this wasn’t what Boeing hoped for when it picked a right to work state. The only saving grace here is that a union vote is not “all or nothing”. Those electing not to be part of the union won’t be forced to join and pay dues. That won’t matter to diehard union folks, but employees who join the union through mild or moderate coercion may look up at some point and wonder why they’re paying dues to get the same benefits as they’re non-union co-workers. After all, if Boeing negotiates to give a benefit to non-union employees, they’d be encouraging more unionization if they don’t extend the same benefit to non-union workers.
