Hyatt Selling Discounted Gold Passport Points Through August 18, 2014

Hyatt is selling discounted Gold Passport points through August 18, 2014 and the offer seems to be targeted.

You can see if you’re eligible for the offer here.  All of the accounts I keep track of were eligible.

There are 3 tiers for the promo:

Gold Passport Points

In my opinion, the only tier worth considering is the 40% tier for buying over 40,000 points.  That works out to 1.7 cents each, which is right about where I value at Gold Passport point.  The transactions are handled by Points.com.

Specifically for Canadian residents, the T&C note that you’ll be charged GST/HST on the transaction, likely making this a bad offer for you.

Hyatt certainly runs less promos today than they used to, but there are opportunities to collect points without having to buy them.

There’s the current Las Vegas promo.

And, you can also apply for the Hyatt Visa card.  The offer on the front page of Hyatt.com right now comes with 2 free nights at any Hyatt worldwide.

If you’ve already exhausted these offers or have an upcoming stay that you need some more points to reserve, then there may be some value here.

Hyatt doesn’t put their points on sale in this fashion very often, so I wouldn’t expect to see this offer again anytime soon.  Keep in mind we may have a fall/winter promo for paid travel coming up as well.

    1. TM, I’d argue that’s targeted since not all GP members cannot access the offer. But, that’s a pretty broad target. 🙂
