Avis Discounts And Chairman Status on Daily Getaways Today

Today’s Daily Getaway offers include a one-day Avis rental for $30 and Avis Chairman’s Club membership for $1004 (both prices include the 10% discount for paying with an American Express Card).

In case you’re not familiar, Daily Getaways are daily deals sponsored by the US Travel Association.  Some are better than others, so you need to think about whether you can take full advantage of the offer before buying.

For the more popular offers, they will sell out quickly, which means being around right when they go on sale each day at 1:00 pm EDT.  Some offers will sell out in hours, some in minutes.  It’s also important to be patient.  If you click shortly after an offer becomes available and it shows sold out, keep trying.  Someone may have an offer in their shopping cart but change their mind or have their computer crash.  When that happens, their bad luck or change of heart can be your good fortune.

Finally, make sure you pay with an American Express card to save an additional 10%.  Any AMEX card will do.

Feel free to e-mail me or post questions in the comments section.  Good luck chasing the deals you’re looking for!

One-Day Rental Certificate for $30:

These certificates are good for a one-day rental for up to a Premium class vehicle.  You can purchase up to 7 of these certificates as part of Daily Getaways and you can apply up to 7 to a single reservation.  You have until July 15, 2015 to use up your certificates.

There are plenty of markets where a $30 daily rental rate is a great deal.  Do some quick research for upcoming trips before you buy, as prices vary widely across the country.

It’s also important to note that the T&C preclude rentals in the New York metro area.

Avis Chairman’s Club Membership for $1,004:

Chairman’s Club is something I was curious about the last couple of years.  I even tried to buy it two years ago but was a minute or two late for the start of the offer and missed out.  Benefits of Chairman’s Club include:

Upgrade to best available vehicle on the lot (with a few exceptions).

An Avis representative will drive you back to the airport terminal when returning your car.

Guaranteed vehicles even when a location is sold out.

Avis will deliver a vehicle to you for no extra charge within 25 miles of any location.

I’m happy enough with my Hertz Platinum status that I won’t be going after this offer, but I know folks that have really enjoyed their Avis Chairman’s status.  They’re offering 15 this year, more than they offered in the past (6, I think).  Still, this one always sells out, so if it’s on your radar be ready right on time.

  1. I LOVED having Chairman status for a few years. And while it didn’t save $1000 a year, the car delivery option did save some money. Particularly in locations like Honolulu where both hotel parking and renting from downtown locations is expensive. I’d get a cheap rental from the airport which would be upgraded to a Cadillac and have it delivered just for the day to my hotel. No parking fees and didn’t have to worry about getting to the airport to pick it up!

    1. Good morning, Keri! The car delivery option is something that originally intrigued me that my Hertz Platinum didn’t offer. But, with Hertz formalizing that program more, I’m enjoying the benefits and plan to stand pat. If I had neither of these and I was going to pick one new today, not sure which one I’d choose since Hertz Plat costs more. But, they’ll drop the car off at the airport so you don’t have to ride the shuttle bus.

  2. I’m so glad you posted this when you did. I had totally forgotten about the Chairman’s Club, but now I just scored it! Thanks, Ed!
