Hyatt Jumps Into Daily Getaways In A Big Way

For those that don’t know, Daily Getaways are an annual program that the US Travel Association and American Express team up on each year with a variety of travel providers.  There are a number of good opportunities and a few great ones.  I’ve already dipped into the well with some deeply discounted Busch Gardens tickets for an upcoming family trip.  Other examples of previous offers this year were the 20% discount on Marriott gift cards.  All offers get an additional 10% discount when you pay with an American Express card so don’t leave that money on the table if you decide to jump into one of these offers.

I was reviewing the final week of Daily Getaways (July 8th-12th) and was pleasantly surprised to see my favorite hotel chain Hyatt included amongst them.  They’ve got 4 offers at different price points that are all unbeatable:

24,000 Hyatt Gold Passport Points for $260 ($236 if you pay with AMEX):  This is billed as 2 nights in a premium hotel (a category 3).  Some category 3 hotels are premium, others not.  But, the important thing here is that these are points, totally flexible to use anywhere you want.  For example, it costs 22,000 points to stay a night at the beautiful Park Hyatt Tokyo or Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome.  I can assure you you’re unlikely to find rooms at either property for roughly $200 a night.

36,000 Hyatt Gold Passport Points for $415 ($373.50 if you pay with AMEX)

69,000 Hyatt Gold Passport Points for $775 ($697.50 if you pay with AMEX):  That’s enough points for 3 nights at that Park Hyatt in Tokyo, Paris, or even Park Hyatt Zurich.  Again, unlikely to find a 3 night stay for $700 at one of these properties.

30,000 Hyatt Gold Passport Points for $330 ($297 if you pay with AMEX):

Sure, I’m a Hyatt HomerTM.  So, I love  a lot of Hyatt promos others might not.  But, I generally value Hyatt Gold Passport points at around just under two cents (1.8 to be exact-ish).  These deals all have you purchasing Hyatt Gold Passport points at a penny a piece.  That’s a pretty darn good deal.  If you’re not a current Hyatt customer and you’re looking for an opportunity to try out one of their properties, this is a great way to do it.
