Review: Hyatt Regency Miami

Nothing too exciting here.  This trip made me realize I’ve never actually been to downtown Miami.  Been to Miami Beach, South Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, but never downtown Miami.  Can’t say I’m dying to return.

Anyway, I had a one-night stay here about two weeks ago.  The property itself wasn’t overly impressive, but clean and serviceable.  At check-in, while they had my Diamond number on file they didn’t realize I was a Diamond guest.  They had to take the room keys back and re-code them for club access.  No biggie.

The room was definitely of an older standard.  The soft goods were fine, the bed comfortable, and the desk perfectly fine to work on.

The bathroom definitely reminded me of a much older motel-style property.  The sink was outside the bathroom, the closet door had those circa-70s slats on the door, and there was a half wall that separated the bathroom area from the rest of the room.  The lighting was dim, which made it seem a bit worse than it was.  Overall, it was clean and in a good state of repair, so nothing to complain about.

I was traveling with a colleague and we ended up grabbing a quick meal in the bar.  The food was decent and reasonably priced if not spectacular.

Bottom line, this is a clean property well located downtown.  Nothing spectacular, but nothing too horrible either.
